The Friends of Gatineau Park are inviting the public to participate in a brand new workshop lead in English by Charles Thériault. Mr. Thériault has been practicing outdoor activities since his teenage. He has been exploring the Gatineau Park for over 40 years and knows it inside out. He has been hiking in the Adirondack Mountains, the White Mountains, the Chic-Choc Mountains and in several parks of Québec and Ontario. Besides hiking, he enjoys snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, canoe-camping and bicycle touring.
This workshop will take place on Sunday, October 26, from 1 to 4 pm in one of the trails of the Gatineau Park. The Park is without doubt the most popular place in the Ottawa-Gatineau region to practise outdoor activities with over 165 kilometers of available hiking trails.
The following points will be covered during this workshop:
How to choose your destination and plan successful forest outings?
How to prepare for longer hikes, here and elsewhere?
How to choose your equipment?
Learn about map-reading, safety and ethical practices in the great outdoors.
Part of this workshop will include a hike of about two (2) hours. Please make sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear for this activity. We also recommend that you bring water and a light snack.
