As part of the new Wilderness skills workshop series, the Friends of Gatineau Park are happy to be offering a practical and interesting activity, Survival in the Outdoors. This workshop will take place on Friday, December 5, 2014, from 7 to 9 pm, and will be given by members of Search and Rescue Global 1 (SAR Global 1 – http://www.sarglobal1.ca/). The bilingual (English and French) presentation features practical tips and equipment demonstrations.
- Planning backcountry trips
- Navigating with a map and compass
- Ten essential items you need to carry and know how to use
- Survival skills
- Search and rescue techniques.
With these skills and techniques in your toolkit, you will be less likely to get lost in the woods, yet better prepared for misadventures.
