The Friends of Gatineau Park depends on volunteers in order to be able to deliver the wide range of educational programs that we presently offer. Volunteers serve in a number of capacities: helping organize programs, at registration, accompanying participants on outings, assisting the interpreter/leader, helping with logistics and even acting as program leaders on occasion.

In order to encourage more of our members to become volunteers, and to enrich the experience of those who already are, we are planning a half day workshop covering a range of topics relevant to those assisting with Friends of Gatineau park programs and activities. We are hoping this will make people more comfortable with taking on volunteer roles, make the experience more rewarding and also to facilitate volunteers interacting with each other and sharing experiences.

Program

  • introducing the Friends of Gatineau Park and its programs
  • the role of the volunteer
  • visitor experience: expectations, experience cycle, recreation and learning
